Ila Burrell Swing, 79, of Ninth Street Extension, died Wednesday, March 4, 2009, at Lexington Memorial Hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2009, at First Reformed United Church of Christ, where she was a member, by the Dr. Walter Patten. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Swing was born January 31, 1930, in Pittsylvania County, Va., to Fred Silas Burrell and Mable Elizabeth Long Burrell. She was a dietician for Lexington City Schools. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Edwin Swing, Sr.; and a grandchild, Chris Swing. Surviving are sons, Jack E. Swing Jr. and wife, Martha, of Churchland, Philip S. Swing and wife, Sherry, of Archdale, and Timothy Grant Swing and wife, Frances, of Lexington; grandchildren, Amanda Swing, Erica Swing, Aryn Geren, Kristin Swing, Timothy Swing Jr., Kathryn Swing, Chris Norris, Dakota Stutts, and Shannon Bullion; great-grandchildren, Clayton Swing, Anna Marie Swing, Asia Swing, Grant Latham, Madison Bullion, and Jack Hughes; and sisters, Cora Lee Bowers and husband, Willie, of Lexington, Brenda Hash and husband, Raymond, Margie Warren, all of Virginia, and Mildred Price and husband, David, of Kannapolis. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Reformed United Church of Christ, General Fund, 104 East Center Street, Lexington, NC 27292.
