Mrs. Inez Hege Myers, 93, of Muddy Creek Rd, Clemmons, died Friday, August 14, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, August 17 at Good Hope United Methodist Church, with Rev. Chris Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Myers was born March 20, 1916 in ¬¬¬¬Davidson County to Joe L. Hege, Sr. and Myrtle Robertson Hege. She worked in the sewing department at Sears and Roebuck for many years, and retired from North Davidson High School, where she worked in the cafeteria. She was a lifelong member of Good Hope United Methodist Church, where she held numerous jobs over the years including teaching Sunday School. She was an active member of the Senior Friends of Good Hope, United Methodist Women, and a past president of the Unity Circle. She was one of the last known survivors of the Hill’s one room schoolhouse. She was deeply devoted to her family, church, and community. She was a faithful friend. Her husband of 34 years, Robert Silas Myers, preceded her in death, as well, her brothers, Roger Hege, and Joe L. Hege, Jr; and her sister, Virginia Mock.
Surviving are her brothers, Hubert Hege, and wife, Mary Lillian, of Lexington, and John Ray Hege, and wife, Frances, of Clemmons; and her sister, Lottie Taylor of Ohio. Although never blessed with children, Inez had a very large family of 14 nieces, 15 nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered for her faith and commitment to God, her warmth, the way she helped others, her courageous spirit, and her zest for life.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree Chapel.
