Iris Connette Mckinney

Iris Connette McKinney, 95, of Carolina House, formerly of Mt. Moriah Drive, died Monday, September 17, 2012, at Carolina House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 20, 2012, at Spruce Street Baptist Church, where she attended, with the Rev. Terry Coates officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her great-grandson on Tom Everhart Road. Mrs. McKinney was born July 29, 1917, in Surry County, to Joseph Richard Slaydon and Edna Mae Holyfield Slaydon. She retired from Henry Link, having worked in the cabinet room. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Warren Slaydon; daughter, Patty Faulk; and granddaughter, Dawn Byerly. Surviving are son, Jerry McKinney of Lexington; daughter, Alice McKinney Ulrich of Sinking Spring, Pa.; grandchildren, Karen Fowler, Donna Hensley, and Jeremiah McKinney; great-grandchildren, John Helmstetler, Alana Cox, David Chrisley and Katie Fowler; and great-great-grandchild, Carson Cox.
