Iris Sowers Patterson

Iris Sowers Patterson, age 88 of Centerclair Nursing Home formerly of Westover Drive Lexington, passed away Sunday morning (January 9, 2011). A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday (January 13, 2011) at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Kelley Groce and Rev. Doug Rowe officiating. Family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall._ Iris was born in Lexington, NC January 29, 1922 to Henry G. Sowers and Johanna C. Sowers. She was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, “Class of 1943” and for many years worked for Dr. Dan Redwine. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard Henry “Dick” Patterson, Sr. and son Richard Henry Patterson, Jr. Surviving are: two daughters, Lynn P. Rowe and husband Doug of Lexington and Johanna P. Lawrence and husband Mike of Greensboro; three grandchildren, Ben Rowe and wife Ann, Jake Rowe and wife Mary all of Winston Salem and Kathryn Lawrence of Greensboro; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Will, Luke and Andrew; one sister Sara S. Freshwater of Greensboro; one brother, Bill Sowers of Durham.
