Irvin Arthur Parker, 87, of Briggs Road, died Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at Hinkle Hospice House, after declining health of two months.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Roy Queen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the home.
Mr. Parker was born August 1, 1922, in Rowan County, to Johnny Richard Parker and Bessie Mae Tysinger Parker. He is an associate member of Antioch Baptist Church. Mr. Parker was a self employed sawyer.
Surviving are his wife, Dorothy Mae Carrick Parker of the home; son, Roger Parker and wife, Barbara, of Lexington; daughters, Pat E. Ledford and husband, Michael, of Greensboro, and Carolyn Sink and husband, Randel, of Raleigh; six grandchildren, Kim Ferrick, Tracey Phillips, Shelley Sink, Makesha Sink, Jason Parker, and Jennifer Parker Smith; ten great-grandchildren; and three brothers, William Clyde Parker, Robert Johnny “R.J” Parker, and Tommy Joe Parker, all of Lexington.
