J. D. Denning

J.D. Denning age 94 of Welcome passed away Friday April 29, 2022 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday May 2, 2022  at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel conducted by Pastor Jonathan Goodman and burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will see friends from 10-11 am prior to the service.

Mr. Denning was born April 12, 1928, in Sampson County to George Rufus Denning and Mary Allie Sills Denning. He retired from McLean Trucking Company and honorably served his country in The US Army Aircore. His parents and wife Minnie Hart Denning preceded him in death. He was a proud member of The Bojangles and Randy’s breakfast group in Welcome as they solved world problems.

Surviving are his son, Jeff Allen Denning (Debi) of Lexington and daughters, Cathie Lane (Bill) of Hickory and Terri Rhodes (Michael) of Kernersville. Grandchildren: Lisa Denning, Megan Minton (Travis), Alex Rhodes (fiancé Hannah Burchette) and Nick Rhodes (Beth) and a great granddaughter, Vaida Wilson.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Welcome or Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
