James Ronald Carrick, 81, of Briggs Road, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2016, at Holloways Baptist Church, where he was a lifelong member, with the Revs. Dr. Dana Slack and Craig Barnhill officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and other times at the home.
Mr. Carrick was born July 25, 1934, in Davidson County, to Marvin Carrick and Essie Cross Carrick. He enjoyed woodworking projects after his retirement from Lexington Furniture Industries - Young Hinkle where he was in charge of quality control. At his church he was a Deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He will be remembered as a caring man who loved working at his church and especially projects with former Pastor Craig. He also had a garden every summer and shared it with the community through his “Honest Produce Stand”. He enjoyed chatting with his customers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Carrick and Melvin Carrick; and sisters, Leora Davis, Eunice Varner and Novelle Bean.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years Jane Carrick of the home; son, Gregg Carrick and wife Tammy of Lexington; daughter, Vicki Norman and husband Sammy of Carolina Beach; grandchildren, Heidi Carrick, Nic Carrick, both of Lexington, and Chase Parks of Raleigh; five great-grandchildren including Kesslyn Sweat of the home; and a brother, Dallas Carrick of Lexington. The family would like to thank Forsyth Medical Center and Hinkle Hospice House for their special care for Mr. Carrick.
