Jack Cornelius Burkhart, 78, of Queens Drive, Lexington, died Friday at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 11a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2007 at Second United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating.
Mr. Burkhart was born March 10, 1929 in Davidson County to Robert Odell Burkhart and Nellie Gray Styers Burkhart. He was a retired salesman and co-owner of General Transmissions Supply and a lifelong member of Second United Church of Christ, where he was an Elder Emeritus, member of the choir and taught the Men's Bible Class. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was preceded in death by his brothers, Sco Burkhart and Blake Burkhart, and his sisters, Ruth Craver and Zelma Leonard.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Rachel Kepley Burkhart; his daughter, Beth Parrott and husband, Mac; his sons, Robert Burkhart, and wife, Marie, and David Burkhart, and wife, Lisa; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Shive, and husband, Daniel, Katherine Farless, and husband, Graham, Anna Gwennap, and husband, Ty, Meredith Burkhart, Ellen Burkhart, Rachel Burkhart, and Emma Burkhart; his brothers, Darrell Burkhart and Ricky Burkhart; his sister, Hazel Crowell; and his best friend and grand dog, Foscoe.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor and other times at the home of his daughter, 110 Acacia Circle, Lexington.
