Jack Andrew Calvert, age 80, of Lantern Lane, died Tuesday, April 02, 2013, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at First United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Kelley Groce, Rev. Doug Rowe, and Dr. Lee Dukes. Private Inurnment will be in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. The family will see friends in the Church Fellowship Hall following the service and at other times will be at the residence of Andy Calvert on County Club Drive. Mr. Calvert was born March 27, 1933, in Richmond County, to Pearson Calvert and Annie Burton Calvert. He graduated from Rockingham High School in 1952, and served in the U S Army from 1953 until 1956. He attended East Carolina University from 1956 until 1961. He moved to Lexington in 1962 when he accepted employment with Mountcastle Insurance Agency. He retired as co-owner of Mountcastle in 1999. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in the Lexington Jaycee chapter. He had been a member of the Retail Merchants Association and was a member and past president of the Lexington Kiwanis Club, Past Chairman of the Lexington Area Chamber of Commerce, member of the High Rock Lake Association, member and past Board member of Independent Insurance Agents of NC . He was named Independent Agent of the Year in 1997. He was married to Sara Elizabeth Cole Calvert who died November 15, 2004. Mr. Calvert is survived by a son, Jack A. (Andy) Calvert, Jr. and wife Libby of Lexington; a daughter, Kim Calvert Laine and husband Terry of Lexington; grandchildren, Cole Calvert, Katie Calvert and Carly Owen all of Lexington; sisters, Josephine (Jo) Dawkins of Norman, OK, and Dorothy (Dot) Mathis and husband Connie of Charlotte; brother, Heyward Calvert and wife Kathryn of Lumberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 South Main St., Lexington, NC 27292; Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC or Kamp Kiwanis Foundation, PO Box 1956, Lexington, NC 27293
