Jack Dean Thrift Sr, age 87, of Winston Salem passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice House. A graveside service will be held at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston Salem at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 10, 2018 with Pastor Eddie Evans officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Mr. Thrift was born in Forsyth County on May 11, 1930 to Vernon Amos Thrift Sr. and Cora Bessie Foil Thrift. He was a retired machine operator, having worked for RJ Reynolds and was of Moravian Faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, V.A. Thrift Jr, Bob Thrift, and Charles Thrift. Surviving are his loving wife of 67 years, Bettie Jane Watkins Thrift of the home; two sons, Jack Thrift Jr. (Sherry) and Craig Thrift and best friend Ivory Caudill Jr. all of Lexington; daughter, Rosina Tesh (Joe) of Winston Salem; brother, Bill Thrift of Richmond, VA; two grandchildren, Teia Revels (Bryce) and Bridget Quinn (Tony); and four great-grandchildren.
