Jack Lloyd Hardie, 82, of Holloways Church Road, died Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Forsyth Medical Center, following an extended illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Macedonia United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Randy Blanton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family ill receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
Mr. Hardie was born May 7, 1931, in Columbus County, to Henry Hardie and Elva Bullard Hardie. He was a former store manager at Kimbrell’s Furniture and had served in the U.S. Air Force. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, David Hardie.
Surviving are his loving wife of 18 years, Nancy Newgent Hardie, of the home; son, Greg Hardie and wife Nancy of Clemmons; daughters, Susan Abramowitz and husband Michael of Belmont and Kim Gentry of Boone; 19 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and stepchildren, Robert Crouse, Sandra Pickens, Randy Crouse, and Jeanie Harman.
