Jack Mobley

March 3, 1929 — July 9, 2007

Jack Allan Mobley Sr., 78, of Mt. Carmel Road, died Monday, July 9, 2007, at Hospice Home of the Piedmont, High Point. A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Dr. Ronald Mann and the Rev. Loretta Stutz. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Mobley was born in Danville, Va., on March 3, 1929, to Eugene Mobley and Alma Ruth Shelton Mobley. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. He was retired from American General (formerly Life and Casualty), was a member of American Legion Post 8, VFW Post 3074, Amvets 13, and a former member of Reeds Civitans Club. Mr. Mobley was an avid Nascar fan and at the age of 50 he received his aircraft license. He was a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church. Mr. Mobley was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Bobby Mobley, a sister, Lorene Swicegood, and a son-in-law, Louis Bell. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Juanita Tesh Mobley, of the home; sons, Jack Allan Mobley II and wife, Sharon, and Bobby Eugene Mobley, all of Lexington; daughters, Pandora Ann Mobley Bell of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Laura Annette Mobley Collins and husband, David, of Carrboro; sister, Doris Taft and husband, Ron; and five grandchildren, Erik Bell, Elizabeth Bell-Brown and husband, Paul, Derek Tyler Mobley, Taryn Blake Mobley, and Graham Shaw Collins III. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home and following the service at the home of his son, Jack Mobley II on Mt. Carmel Road.
