Jack Raymond Purdue, 89, of Curry Street, Lexington, died Saturday at Lexington Health Care after declining health of several years.
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Revs. Ronnie Purdue and Max Shoaf. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
Mr. Purdue was born June 16, 1917 in Danville, VA to Cleveland Purdue and Nanny Elizabeth Taylor Purdue. He retired from Thomas Bus Company and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Tussey Purdue; his brothers: Ralph Purdue and Johnny Purdue; and his sisters: Hazel Purdue, and Virginia Lohr.
Surviving are his sons: James Cleveland Purdue, and wife, Mary, and Bobby Eugene Purdue, and wife, Joyce, both of Lexington; his daughters: Elizabeth Mesimer, and Rachel Moody and husband, David, both of Lexington; 12 grandchildren, 21 Great-Grandchildren, and 12 Great Great-Grandchildren.
The body is at Davidson Funeral Home where the family will see friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, and at other times at the home of his daughter, Lopp Street, Lexington.
