Jack Peoples Thompson

Jack Peoples Thompson, 91, of Waitman Road, died Monday, March 6, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after an illness of two weeks. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Frankie Matthews. Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 4, 1914, in Henry County, Ga., to Joe Thompson and Lena Hightower Thompson. He was a retired diesel mechanic with Ryder Truck Line and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II. Surviving are his wife, Annelle "Nell" Williamson Thompson of the home; one son, Dan Hightower and his wife, Becky, of Lexington; and two grandchildren, Rachel Ward and her husband, Brent, and Jonathan Hightower. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, memorials should be directed to Sheets Memorial Christian School, 307 Holt St., Lexington, NC 27292.
