A funeral will follow at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Luck officiating.

Born on April 15, 1929 in Lexington NC to the late David Calvin and Grace Williams Troutman. Jack was a loving husband to Mazie (deceased). They were married for 78 years.
Jack was well known as the owner and operator of Troutman's Auto Service for 37 years. He and Mazie shared many hours together at the shop. He worked on cars and ran the shop and she was always in the office.
Jack was honored to be named President of Independent Garage Owners for the 1981-82 term. This organization set standards and an ethics code for independent garage owners across North Carolina. Many of these owners became his closest friends. Among them were James and Martha Long of Roanoke Rapids. In 1980 and 1989, the IGO of Davidson County selected him as Man of the Year in recognition for his unwavering contribution to the independent auto repair service. In the 1989 ceremony James Long presented Jack this award. In 1989 the NC IGO chose him as its most outstanding member, and again in 1992. In 2009 he had the honor of being inducted into the NC IGO Hall of Fame.
Prior to being self-employed he worked for 13 years at Coble Dairy. He enjoyed this experience so much that his later years were packed full retelling all those fond memories.
Jack loved gardening, especially spending time on his John Deere tractor. During the mowing season you could hear him whistling over the mower engine. But most of all he cherished time with family.
Jack is survived by two daughters, Patricia Darr and Jackie Yates (Charles) and two cherished granddaughters, Melissa Darr (Scott Bird) and Adrienne Yates (Dr. lan Hill).
Jack was preceded in death by his brothers, Melvin (Rosa), David (Inez), Harold (Margie) and sisters Mary Leonard (Finch) and Louise Troutman.
Jack was grateful for a special brother-in-law Wilford Walser, special nephew Bobby Troutman, sisters-in-law Carolyn Weaver and Donna Berrier and many nieces and nephews. Jack enjoyed many phone chats with his special friend Jim Linville of Austin TX. Jim and his wife Ann had many memorable visits with Jack and Mazie throughout the years.
Jack will always be remembered by friends and family as a man of integrity and fairness and the man who always extended his hand and open arms for a heartfelt greeting.
The family would like to thank Trellis Supportive Care, Kate B Reynolds staff for their care of Jack and family during this time.
