Jackie Douglas Braswell

June 5, 1948 — December 5, 2018

Jackie D. Braswell, 70, of Helmstetler Road in Lexington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, December 8 at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Scott officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.  Visitation with family and friends will be held from 10:30 – 11:30 am before the service at the church.

Jackie was born in Granite Falls, NC on June 5, 1948 to James A. Braswell and Minervia Clark Braswell.  He proudly served in the United States Army.  Jackie was retired from Myers Tool as a machinist.  He attended Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, which he loved supporting.  Jackie enjoyed hunting and fishing especially with his two sons, as well as gardening, which was also a passion in his life.  He enjoyed sharing his produce with others, as he was a very giving and caring person.  The true love of his life was his spouse of 52 years, his grandchildren and his great-grandchild.  Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Landon Braswell, Stonie Braswell, Yale Braswell; sisters, Mary Braswell and Edna Todd.

Surviving is his loving wife, Judy Smith Braswell, of the home; sons, Allen Braswell, of the home, Brian Braswell (Fiancé, Jennifer Barrier) of Lexington; brother, Jimmie Braswell (Violet) of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Angel Periou of Granite Falls; sisters, Billie Sue Morrison of Granite Falls, Linda Cromer of Lake Norman; four grandchildren, Brandon Braswell, Holly Braswell, Cheyenne Braswell, Greyson Barrier; and one great-grandchild, Bryson Roach; best friend, Boyd Ashe of Lexington; and his dog, Angel, who he loved dearly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292.
