It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jacqueline "Jackie" Stokes, a beloved mother, grandmother, friend, and cherished member of the Lexington, NC community. Jacqueline departed this life peacefully on Thursday, July 10th, 2025, at the age of 77.
Born on a warm summer day, Monday, June 7th, 1948, Jacqueline was the loving daughter of the late Fred and Cora Bowden. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert Lee Stokes Sr., with whom she shared many years of love and companionship, brother, Roger Dale Naill.
Jacqueline led a life of simplicity and dedication, working diligently as a custodian. Her work ethic and pride in her job were inspiring to all who knew her. She took immense joy in the little things and found great satisfaction in a job well done. Her commitment and strong spirit were greatly admired by her colleagues and friends.
A resident of Lexington, NC, Jacqueline was known for her warm smile, compassionate spirit, and generous nature she is survived by her son, Robert Stokes Jr. (Crystal), daughter, Carol Stokes, brother Barry Lynn Overby, four grandchildran, Brenden Stokes, Crystal White (Michael), Brittany Sears (Tate), Taz Tucker, two great grandchildran, Evelyn White and Mia Sears. Jacqueline took immense pride in her family, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren, and she will be profoundly missed by them.
The funeral service wil be 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will recieve friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Jacqueline's family would like to express their deep gratitude to everyone who knew her and enriched her life with love and friendship. The family also extends special thanks to Hinkle Hospice House, and Davidson Funeral Home for handling the funeral arrangements with care and compassion.
