Lexington

Jacob Clifton Beck, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. Born in Lexington, North Carolina, he was one of six children to the late Jacob Beck and Ruth Wellborn. He is survived by his wife, Lynda Zimmerman Beck; his daughter-in-law, Lucie Beck; and his grandson, Brandon Beck. He was preceded in death by his son, Cale Beck, and his siblings Ruby Lanier, Louise Lyle, Bobby Beck, and David Beck. His brother Ronnie Beck lives with his wife Patsy in Benson. At the young age of 14, Clifton met the love of his life, Lynda. They married at 18 and celebrated an incredible 65 years of marriage this year. Together, they cherished their son, Cale Beck, and were overjoyed to welcome a grandson, Brandon, who brought immense pride and joy to their lives. A lifelong member of Center Church in Welcome, Clifton held numerous leadership positions and dedicated his life to service. He completed many mission trips across the United States and abroad, impacting the lives of countless individuals. His commitment to community service extended to volunteering at Forsyth Hospital, the Salvation Army, and Crisis Ministries. Clifton possessed a remarkable engineering mind, able to create anything with his hands. He founded and operated JC Beck Machine shop that later became SteelTek. He and Lynda enjoyed working together, and after selling their business in 1997, they embraced retirement with enthusiasm. In retirement, Clifton discovered a passion for farming, cultivating fruits, vegetables, trees, and flowers. His friends and family eagerly enjoyed the fruits of his labor. When not tending to his farm, he loved spending time at his beach house, saltwater fishing, and going on day trips with Lynda. Clifton was a man of joy, never meeting a stranger and always ready to share a joke or a laugh. He was deeply loved by his family, friends, and community, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and service. He will be missed dearly and remembered fondly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Clifton's memory.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 29th at Center Church with Pastor Mitch Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm prior to the service.
