Jacob Shuford May, 51, of Lexington, passed away on Monday, April 7th, 2025. Known for his entrepreneurial spirit and love for the outdoors, Jacob lived a life full of passion and dedication.

Born and raised in Lexington, Jacob was a proud graduate of Lexington High School and later earned his degree from UNC-Charlotte. His vision and determination led him to establish May Heavy Equipment, which under his leadership evolved into National Equipment Dealers, where he continued to play an integral role as a partner.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jacob had a zest for life that was evident in his love for golf, the great outdoors, and farming. He leaves behind a legacy not just in business but also in the hearts of those who knew him.

Jacob is survived by his beloved fiancée, Amber Royal; his children, Jacob May Jr., Emerson May, and Huntley May; and stepchildren, Sage Leonard, Salem Leonard, and Staley Leonard. He also leaves behind his mother, Carol Myers May; and his brother, Deems May and wife, Susan, of Charlotte. . He was preceded in death by his father, Bert May, whose guidance and lessons Jacob cherished throughout his life.

A funeral service to honor Jacob will be held at 2pm Wednesday at National Equipment Dealers, 215 Woodside Drive, Lexington, by Pastor Wayne Patterson.  Burial will follow at Denton Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Tuesday, April 15th at Davidson Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the care of Davidson Funeral Home. Jacob's family encourages those who knew him to dress casually and share their favorite memories and stories as they remember a man who touched many lives.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to United Network for Organ Sharing, 700 N. 4th Street, Richmond VA 23219 or to the donor’s choice.

Jacob's warmth, laughter, and generosity will be sorely missed but lovingly remembered by all he encountered.
