Mrs. Jacqueline Cameron Leonard, 93, formerly of Greensboro Street Ext, died Sunday at Hinkle Hospice House.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 29 at First Reformed United Church of Christ, by the Revs. Dr. Walter Patten, Mike Hooper and Dr. Lee Jessup. Burial will follow in the Lexington City Cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation. Mrs. Leonard will remain at Davidson Funeral Home until one hour prior to the service, when she will lie in state at First Reformed Church.
Mrs. Leonard was born September 5, 1917 in Davidson County to Z. Ross Cameron and Annie Welborn Cameron. She was a graduate of the Women’s College of University of North Carolina with a degree in home economics. She taught in Nash and Davidson County Schools and the Lexington City Schools. She was a member of the First Reformed United Church of Christ. She married Theodore P. Leonard on December 28, 1943. Mr. Leonard preceded her in death on January 26, 2000.
There are no immediate survivors.
Mrs. Leonard stressed that no flowers be sent and memorials may be made to Crisis Ministry, 107 East First Avenue, Lexington NC 27292 or to the Salvation Army, PO Box 770, Lexington NC 27293.
