Jake Berry

William Sterling "Jake" Berry, 83, of Beck's Church Road, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at 8:45 p.m. at Lexington Memorial Hospital. A memorial service celebrating the life of Mr. Berry will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a member, by the Rev. Wayne Knight. Mr. Berry was born in Richmond, Va., on Dec. 26, 1924, to James William Berry and Eva Thacker Berry. He was retired from Coble Dairy. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Tina Renee Berry. Surviving are his wife, Martha Ann Stevenson Berry of the home; sons Keith William Berry and his wife, Joyce, of Las Vegas, and Jeff Wayne Berry of Welcome; daughters Donna Swicegood and her husband, Jimmy, Patricia Weaver and her husband, Robert, and Tammy Gonzalez and her husband, Roger, all of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Robert Lewis Berry and his wife, Kathy, of Pinnacle, S.C., and James Roland Berry and his wife, Brenda, of Williamston, S.C.; sisters Evelyn West and Cecelia Jarrett, both of Kernersville, Shirley Shivan of Morehead City, and Diane McCall of Liberty, S.C. The family will receive friends at the church after the memorial service and at other times at the home of his daughter, Donna Swicegood, 4650 Parks Road, Lexington. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
