Jacob “Jake” Coburn Furnace, 40, of Ashville, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at McGuire Veteran’s Hospital, in Richmond, Virginia.

A memorial service will be held the next day, Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11 AM in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel following a private inurnment.
Jake was born on September 30, 1984, to Teresa Horton, in Connecticut.
After graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom, completing two tours in Iraq in Fallujah. His dedication to service extended beyond the military, as he later worked with Blackwater, serving on the elite US Ambassador Security Detail in Afghanistan for five and a half tours.
Despite the intensity of his career, he found joy and release in the things he loved—golfing and motocross, passions he had pursued since childhood. Known for his sharp wit and sense of humor, he remained grounded through a deep bond with his family, who were the heart of his life.
Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life, Taylor Young; his parents, Travis Buntin and Teresa Horton; sister, Danielle Daniels (Jeremy); and his nephews and niece, Luke, Dakota, and Haley.
