Jacob "Jake" Alexander Denton, a beloved member of the Davidson County community, tragically passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Jake's life will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Reeds Baptist Church, with Pastor Henry Watterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 pm until 8 pm on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington.
Born on March 11, 1997, to Michael Chad Denton and Rebecca Towery Denton, Jake's presence illuminated the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, friendship, and kindness that will forever be cherished. Jake was a member of Reeds Baptist Church. He found joy and purpose in his work as a mechanic at Tom's Tire, where his skillful hands and warm demeanor left a lasting impact on those he served. Known for his sense of humor and adventure, Jake had a remarkable ability to forge deep connections with others. His circle of friends was vast, a testament to his magnetic personality and unwavering loyalty. Whether lending a helping hand or sharing a laugh, Jake was always there for those in need. Jake was preceded in death by his aunt, Angie Martin, and his special papaw, Robert Torrence. While his physical presence may no longer grace this earth, his spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In the midst of this profound loss, Jake is survived by his loving parents, Michael and Becky Denton; his dear sister, Katie Denton and fiancée Emily Claire, who held a special place in his heart; his grandparents, James and Brenda Simmons, Joyce Honeycutt, Larry Towery (Pat Tetter); his great-grandmother, Ruby Torrence, whose love he treasured; his aunts and uncles, Jennifer Towery (Phillip), Kristal Berrier, Chris Simmons, and Brandon Simmons, whose guidance and support enriched his life; his cherished cousins, Braxton Vestal (Brittany), Justin Yarbrough (Jordan), Zach Yarbrough (Amanda), Hannah Berrier, Chloe Crabb (Tyler), Emerson Berrier, and a host of close friends that Jake considered family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Children's Home at PO Box 1288, Lexington, NC 27293, a cause close to Jake's heart.
Jake's passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who were touched by his presence. May his gentle soul find eternal peace, and may his legacy of love and kindness endure for generations to come.
