Jake furnace, 40, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away April 10, 2025, at McGuire Veteran's Hospital, in Richmond, Virginia.
Jake was born to Steven Furnace and Teresa Horton on September 30th, 1984, in Connecticut.
After graduating high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring/Iraqi Freedom, completing two tours in Iraq in Fallujah. His dedication to service extended beyond the military, as he later worked with Blackwater, serving on the elite US Ambassador Security Detail in Afghanistan for five and a half tours.
Jake was beloved by his family and friends and will forever be known as the life of the party. He found joy in motocross, playing golf, the beach and sunsets were his favorite time of day. His infectious smile and humor will be missed by the family he leaves behind both in North Carolina and Florida.
Jake is survived by his significant other, Taylor Young; his parents, Steve Furnace, Teresa Horton and his stepfather, Travis Buntin and stepmother Jeanette Furnace; sister, Danielle Daniels (Jeremy); stepsisters Alisha Brimm and Kristy Cook; brother-in-law TJ Cook, and his nephews and nieces, Luke, Dakota, and Haley, Bristol, Nicole, Aston, Robbie and Taylor. His memory will also be cherished by his Uncle Rick Furnace and many cousins both in Ohio and Oregon.
A celebration of life will be held in Daytona Beach, FL, to view the sunset with him as we say our goodbyes. Contact father, Steve Furnace for more information.
