Jake Jacobs

Charles Thurman Jacobs, Jake to all his friends, 89, of Neely Drive, died Wednesday, April 4, 2007, at his home. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday at Rowan Memorial Park by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Mr. Jacobs was born April 29, 1917, in Davidson County to Ira F. Jacobs and Minnie Parnell Jacobs. He lived on Highway 210 near Surf City, N.C., and owned Jake's Mobile Home Repair Service for 30 years until he returned to Lexington in 2001. He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Jacobs, and a daughter, Shelia Jacobs. He is survived by two sons, Joseph "J.J." Jacobs and Charles E. "Scooter" Jacobs, both of Lexington; two daughters, Karen Ireland and her husband, Rick, of West Palm Beach, Fla., and ZeLinda J. Sullivan and her husband, Charles, of Sneads Ferry; a granddaughter, Jayanna J. Nichols and her husband, Justin, of Lexington; a great-granddaughter, Chesney B. Nichols; five step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. There will be no formal visitation, but the family will receive friends at High Rock Motors, Highway 8, Lexington.
