Jakie Koonts

June 10, 1940 — February 13, 2021

Warren Jacob “Jakie” Koonts, 80 of Linwood-Southmont Rd., Linwood, died Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Carolina Medical Center in Charlotte.

A graveside service will be held at 10am Saturday, February 20 at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Michael Greer.  Social distancing and masks will be required.

Jakie was born on June 10, 1940, in Davidson County to Robar and Mittie Biesecker Koonts. He was the retired Director of Transportation for Davidson County School System for 42 years.  He was a member of the Spencer Moose Family Center, where he served as Administrator, Governor, and was on the Ritual Team.  He loved fishing, hunting and gardening.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Tommy Koonts, W.R. Koonts, Robie Koonts, Bob Koonts and Gray Koonts, and his daughter in law, Cathy Koonts.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lois Leonard Koonts of the home; his sons, Keith Koonts (Lyndee) of Lexington and Scott Koonts of Troy; his grandchildren, whom they referred to as ‘PawPaw”, Sydnie Koonts of Lexington and Gracie Plott (Drew) of Lake Charles Louisiana; his brother, Ferrell Koonts of Lexington, and sisters-in-law, Frances Koonts, Jane Koonts, and Carolyn Koonts, all of Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Spencer Moose Family Center, 1301 Elizabeth Ave, Spencer NC 28159, or to Juvenile Diabetes Research, 205 Regency Executive Park Dr., Ste. 102, Charlotte NC 28217.
