James Richard Akers Sr.

James Richard Akers Sr. passed from this life on June 27, 2021 after a bravely fought extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Elbert Lee “Jack” Akers and Sarah Catherine Blount Akers, paternal and maternal grandparents and brother Elbert Lee Akers “Jr”.

He is survived by Curtis Ramsey Anderson of the home, his son James Richard Akers Jr. of Greenville SC.; seven siblings, Al Akers of Mississippi, Preacher Clyde Akers of Lexington, Susie (Presto) Brinkley of Mocksville, Charles Akers of Lexington, Joe Akers (Beth) of Lexington, Patty Chesson (Rick) of Lexington and Tim Akers of Myrtle Beach. Furbabies Millie, Cody, Dollar, Jeanie, and Scooter and Mary Ann, his chicken, all whom he loved very much and special friends Dean Forest, Roy Branch and Kevin Bostic.

He is a graduate of Lexington Senior High School and Stafford University.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday June 30, 2021 at Freedom Missionary Baptist Church with Preacher Clyde Akers conducting services.

Burial will follow 2:00 pm  Thursday July 1, 2021 at Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
