James T. Atwood

  James T. Atwood, age 77, of  Winston Salem passed away peacefully Saturday, April 14, 2018 at The Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home.    A funeral service officiated by family and friends will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, April 19, 2018 at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel, burial is to follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens, with military honors.     The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 pm prior to the service at Davidson Funeral Home-Hickory Tree.    Mr. Atwood was born August 15, 1940, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was the previous owner of Atwoods Country Corner and a well-respected business owner within his community. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, and during his military service he was a Tank Driver, and a Golden Glove Boxer. He was preceded in death by his parents Talmadge and Mary Frances Atwood; brother, Michael Atwood, and sister-in-law, Judy; brothers, Chris Atwood, and Brad Atwood.    Surviving are his wife Vickie Atwood of the home, three daughters; Sherri Giordano of Wake Forest, NC ; Dawn Liva, of Winston-Salem, NC; Angie M. Dorton of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Steve Atwood(Brenda), Jeff Atwood(Tammy), Mark Atwood(April) ; Grandchildren, Brock Loynab, Morgan Buckley, Skyler Dorton, Madison Dorton. Great-grandchild, Lilliana Buckley.    In lieu of flowers please make a donation in memoriam to either the AMVETS National Service Foundation or The Kate B.
