James Maynard Benfield

James Maynard Benfield, born on February 10, 1931, in Catawba County, North Carolina, to the late Ira William and Nettie Jane Benfield, peacefully passed away on October 30, 2023. He was 92 years old at the time of his passing.

James was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Craver Benfield, brothers, Allen, Bruce, Max, Kerne, and Parks, as well as four sisters: Cleo Benfield Bell, Mary Benfield Varner, Vetta Grey Benfield Brooks, and Louise Benfield Reel.

He is survived by his niece and caregiver, Sue Anderson, and her husband David, as well as many other nieces and nephews who cherished their time with him.

James had a fulfilling career at Duracell, where he served as a supervisor and later retired. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

He was a devoted member of Midway Methodist Church and an active participant in the local Elks Lodge. His commitment to these organizations reflected his dedication to his community and his faith.

A Graveside Inurnment Service will be 3 pm Monday November 27, 2023 at Midway Methodist Church Conducted by Pastor Michael Gates. The compassionate staff of Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel is honored to be serving the Benfield family during this difficult time.

James Maynard Benfield will be remembered for his service to his country, his strong ties to his community, and the love and warmth he shared with his family. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
