James Lewis Bennett age 88 formerly of North County Home Road died Wednesday afternoon at Brookstone Retirement Center after declining health.
A funeral service will be held 2pm Friday March 14th in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, conducted by Rev. Joe Beane, with burial to follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park.
James was born May 23, 1919 in Jackson State Georgia to John Manning Bennett and Rachel Mallard Bennett. He was a retired auto mechanic, and a member of Church of God. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Clara Cheek Bennett, three brothers Arnold Bennett, Ernest Bennett and George Bennett and four sisters, Mary Wigginton, Vestie Wilson, Lena Lance, and Ann Adams.
Surviving are one brother John Bennett of Lexington; two sisters Inez Tippett of Chamblee, Georgia, and Louise Ware of Smyrna, Georgia; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held 6 –8 pm Thursday March 13th at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of his brother, 15 Woodcrest Drive, Lexington, NC.
