James Calvin Burkhart

James Calvin Burkhart, 87, of E. Old Highway 64, died Monday, April 18,2 011, at his home. There will be no formal services. Mr. Burkhart was born September 16, 1923, in Davidson County, to James Cloys Burkhart and Naomi Kathleen Fritts Burkhart. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; was a member of VFW Post 3074 and Disabled American Vets; and was a retired carpenter. Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Thelma Maxine Bland Burkhart of the home; sons, James Burkhart Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Virginia and Randal Burkhart and wife, Shelia, of Georgia; daughters, Carole Snider and husband, John, of Winston-Salem, and Julie Gregg and husband, Jae, of Lexington; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Willie Mae Fritts of Lexington.
