James L.W. Burr Sr.

James L.W. Burr Sr., 88, of Lexington, passed away May 16, 2022, at Alston Brook Nursing Center in Lexington.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Central Baptist Church, with Pastor Jeff Perdue officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church sanctuary’

Mr. Burr was born February 26, 1934, in Anson County, to David H. Burr and Mary Ruth Robbins Burr. James worked as a truck driver and mechanic all his life, was owner of James L. Burr Trucking. His passion was his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and his love for his dogs. James was a loving father, grandfather, brother, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Teresa Burr, grandson, Jacob Owen, granddaughter, Destiny Michael, sisters, Sara Tarlton, Lois Gathings, and his brothers, John H. Burr, and Joe Burr.

Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Debra B. Lampley and husband Donald, Sandi B. McGee, his sons, David H. Burr and wife Jeannie, James L.W. Burr Jr. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Don Lampley wife Jen, Jon Owen, Lori L. Triplette husband Curtis, Derek Owen wife Sabrina, Chris Burr wife Brandy, Travis Michael wife Nancy, Brandon Michael, Shane Phillips, Dawn Phillips, his great-grandchildren, Brooke Lampley, Madison Triplette, Jace Lampley, Camen Triplette, Julia Owen, Hunter Owen, Anna Owen, JJ Brandy, Anthony Ticconi, Gavin Lampley, Jayden Phillips, Wyatt Burr, and Abigail Burr. Also surviving are his sisters, Lillie Morton husband Roy, Martha Morton, Mary Evans, brothers, Frank Burr wife Carolyn, Nick Burr wife Evelyn, and David Tad Burr.
