James Preston Cox

Mr. James Cox, age 81 of Lick Creek Church Road, died Sunday, July 17, 2022, at his home with family by his side.

A funeral service will he held 11:00 am, Saturday, July 23, 2022, at Clear Springs United Methodist Church by Rev. Scott Davis. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday evening at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, NC, and other times at the home.

Mr. Cox was born October 5, 1940, in Stanley County to Rudolph Alexander Cox and Estelle Burris Cox. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Vergie Poole Cox, brothers, Glen, Ralph, Lonnie, Kenneth, Wayne, sister Anne, Joyce, Pearl, and Daisy.

Surviving are his daughters; Wanda Cox, Amy Newton, Vicki Eads husband Michael of Denton, two sisters, Mary, Judy, six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
