Mr James William Curd, 59 a resident of Holden Beach NC, passed away Monday Morning, January 8, 2024 at his home. Jimmy was born October 27, 1964, in Norfolk VA to the late Glenna Moore Curd and the late James William Curd Sr. He graduated from High Point Central High School. After High School Jimmy joined the United States Navy. He was assigned to the USS Caloosahatchee (AO-98). He was Honorable discharged in 1987. Jimmy (JW) retired from the USPS P&DC in Greensboro he loved and enjoyed working with his post office family. Surviving is his daughter, Amanda Curd of Lexington; two brothers Danny Curd of Trinity, Jerry Curd(Wanda) of Lexington; one sister Gayle Haas(John) Trinity; and 2 grandchildren, Braylon McDowell and Thomas McDowell. Above all Jimmy was a devoted Dad and Papaw . He was a huge sports fan and enjoyed being there for Amanda at all the sports she played growing up. Spending time at the beach, cooking out, fishing and riding them around on the golf cart was some of his favorite things to do. Jimmy also enjoyed playing golf(just about daily), fishing and spending time with his friends and family. Anyone who knew him knows he was an avid sports fan for the New England Patriots, Kansas City Royals and Virginia Cavaliers. He will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
A service to honor Jimmy will be held 12:00pm Thursday, January 25 at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Rev Brian Workman officiating. The family will greet friends 1 hour prior to the service at 11:00am. Interment will be at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
