James Harrell Flynt, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at First United Methodist Church. Mr. Flynt graduated from Asheboro High School and served as President of Randolph County Beta Club. He graduated from Elon University in 1955. Jim served in the U.S. Navy on two aircraft carriers. He was a certified public accountant and a senior partner with Turlington and Company until his retirement. He was active in civic activities with Jaycees where he served as director, vice president, president, treasurer and was honored as a Life Member. Mr. Flynt continued to serve Kiwanis Club as treasurer, vice president, president, and director. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board and was Treasurer. Mr. Flynt was a member of the City of Lexington Utilities Commission, Treasurer of Lexington District of the United Methodist Church, and the Board of Trustees for Lexington Memorial Hospital. Surviving are his wife, Hilda; daughter, Darlene Rebecca and husband Robert Dejo of Matthews; son, James Alan Flynt of Atlanta, Ga.; and daughter, Bonnie Grey Flynt of Atlanta, Ga.
