James Foy Yarbrough, 90, of Mendota Avenue, died April 20, 2012, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Revs. Lonnie Daughtery and Sam Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the funeral home.
Mr. Yarbrough was born January 18, 1922, in Davidson County, to Henry F. Yarbrough and Bessie Ella Koontz Yarbrough. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later worked in the cloth room of Wennonah Cotton Mill. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Kay Yarbough; brothers, Rayvon Yarbrough, Vernel Yarbrough and Willie Yarbrough; and sisters, Minnie Younts and Effie Harleson.
Surviving are his loving wife of 57 years, Zella York Yarbrough, of the home; sons, Ronnie James Yarbrough and wife, Kelly, of Churchland, and Kelvin “Kelly” V. York of Spencer; daughter, Linda Flynn of Lexington; eight grandchildren, Lisa, Amy, Lori, Tina, Valli, Paul, Sarah, and Tony; 12 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rachel Reid of Lexington.
