James Monroe Glascoe, 89, of Riverview Road Extension, died Sunday, April 12, 2015, at Forsyth Medical Center following a six month illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy Pearson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 14.
Mr. Glascoe was born July 8, 1925, in Guilford County, to Shuman Clyde Glascoe and Myrtle Hedrick Glascoe. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a carpenter for Western Electric in Winston-Salem prior to his retirement. He was a member of Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Homer Glascoe; and sisters, Darlene Gayle and Betty Wright.
Surviving are his loving wife, Elaine Harvey Glascoe of the home; son, Tony Glascoe and wife Karen of Troutville, Va.; daughter, Kay Littlejohn of Advance; stepdaughter, Jennifer Carter and husband Mark of Lexington; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Shirley Hedrick and husband Billy; and sister-in-law, Margie Glascoe.
