James Franklin Kiger

September 1, 1925 — October 13, 2009

James Franklin Kiger, 84 of Berrier Road passed away Tuesday afternoon at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 16, 2009 at Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel with Evangelist Jason Koontz officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Mr. Kiger was born in Davie County on September 1, 1925 to Wiley Hampton and Minnie Mintora McBride Kiger. He worked at Sara Lee Hosiery for forty years. He served in the US Army during WWII. James was a member of Enon Baptist Church. Also preceding him in death, his parents, five brothers, Thomas, Robert, Baxter, Vernon and Willie Kiger; one sister, Elizabeth McCollum and a stepson, Donald Wayne Hill. Surviving are his wife Georgia Frances Hege Kiger of the home; one stepson, Charles Glenn Hill, Jr. and wife Lane Walser of Welcome; three stepdaughters, Gail Redman of Reddington Beach, Fl., Lenda Faye Hill Naimolia and husband Vince and Glenda Kaye Hill Young all of Tampa, Fl.; two brothers, A.G. Kiger and wife Hilda of Winston-Salem and Charlie Kiger and wife Barbara of East Bend; two sisters, Eva Mae McBride of Clemmons and Nellie Adams of East Bend; grandsons, Brian Smith, Tony, Ronnie and Michael Gobble and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
