James William Kirkus III, 46, of Hugh Miller Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Health — Lexington Medical Center.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Grace Alliance Church by the Rev. Richard Barker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Kirkus was born Nov. 22, 1967, in Davidson County to James William Kirkus Jr. and Alline Wilson Kirkus. He was a graduate of West Davidson Senior High School and had been a brick mason. Jamie loved to be outside surrounded by nature, winter, spring, summer and fall. He loved to ride his horse, Chase, with the boxer Dan or any other dog that would tag along by his side. More than anything, Jamie loved his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He was honored to work cleaning the church grounds of Grace Alliance Church with his father.
Surviving in addition to his parents of the home are his sisters, Angie Worley and husband Jeff of Lexington and Deborah Lipman and husband Todd of Rolesville; grandmother Louise Wilson of Lexington; nieces Megan Worley, Amber Worley, Gracie Worley, all of Lexington, Corinne Lipman and Brooke Lipman of Rolesville; nephews Justin Kirkus (Crystal) of Winston-Salem, Mason Lipman and Riley Lipman, both of Rolesville; great-niece Lydia Kirkus of Winston-Salem; his boxer, Doug; and his horse, Chase.
