James Lloyd Comer, 82, Old Bud Sink Rd., Lexington joined the Love of his life on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Hinkle Hospice House. He never amassed a fortune but gave selflessly to many.
A funeral will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at Sheets Memorial Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Frankie Matthews. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Hom from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Monday, May 11, 2015 and other times at the home of the son, 300 Hill Everhart Road, Lexington, NC 27295
He was born in Yancy County on August 9, 1932 to Charlie T. Comer, Sr. and Lizzie Hollifield Comer. Lloyd or “Comer” as he was often called was superintendent of the Street Dept. of the City of Lexington and loved the smell of asphalt. He was a member of the original “Rod Benders” where his many driving skills and antics were well known. He was a member of Sheets Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Trustee, Men’s Wide a Wake Class and the Gideons.
Surviving are his son, Roger Comer and wife Marian and daughter, Doris Stokes and husband, Carter all of Lexington. One sister, Joyce Allen (Jerry) of Lexington. He was “PAPAW” to 3 grandchildren, Angie Cannon (Rusty), Kameron McCullough (Shane) and Philip Stokes. He taught them all to drive by the age of 6 and was the original “NO FEAR” man. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren whom he loved and cherished.
