James Elington Long

James Elington Long, 58, of Flynt Street, died Sunday, March 13, 2016, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home with the Revs. James Messer and Drew Lynch officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday. Mr. Long was born August 14, 1957, in Mecklenburg County, to Robert Elington Long and Ruby Lee Broome Long. He was a construction worker for Triangle Construction and of the Baptist faith. Mr. Long served in the U.S. Marines . In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Vera Owens. Surviving are sons, Brian Long and Steven Long, both of Lexington; daughter, Carrie Long of Lexington; stepdaughter, Crystal Grant of Lexington; seven grandchildren; brother, Robert Long and wife Kathy of China Grove and Michael Long of Lexington; and sister, Teresa Smith and husband Terry of Salisbury.
