James M. Williams of Lexington died Tuesday, November 3, 2009, he was 82 years old. He was born October 17, 1927, in Fairland, Shelby County, Indiana, son of Ofa and J. Carl Williams. His wife, Alice Terhune Williams, passed away on April 15, 2000. His brothers, Charles, Forrest M. and Don, also preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughters, Judith and Christine Williams, both of Lexington; his sons, Mark of Goldsboro; and James C. Williams and wife, Amy Funderburk, of Winston-Salem; a brother, J. Carl Williams Jr. of Seymour, Tenn. Tenn.
Jim worked for PPG Industries, beginning his career in 1953. He was area supervisor, then training director with PPG when he retired. He was very involved with O’Berry Center, in Goldsboro, N.C. where his youngest son Mark is a resident. Jim enjoyed many outdoor activities including hunting and fishing. He also loved watching baseball and spending time at his favorite beach, Pawleys Island, S.C.
