James Walter Martin, Sr.

James Walter Martin Sr., a beloved father and cherished member of the community, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024, at his residence in Mena, Arkansas. He was 89 years old. Born on July 21, 1935, to James Alex Martin and Nanny Wilma Goins Martin. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean Conflict. James was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Frances Martin Palmer, Ray Martin, Junior Martin, Barbara Tate, and Betty Link. James is survived by his loving wife, Lucille Laws Martin of Mena, Arkansas, sons; Randy Martin of Charlotte, NC, Clyde Martin of Randleman, NC, Jim Martin of Winston-Salem, NC, and siblings; Johnny Martin, Horace Martin, Nancy Little, and Ronald Martin and numerous nieces and nephews. His memory will also be cherished by friends, neighbors, and all who were touched by his generosity and warmth. A graveside service with military rites to honor and celebrate James's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Monday, December 9, 2024, at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington, NC. Visitation will be one hour prior at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Condolences can be made to Davidson Funeral Home.
