James Thomas McClearen , 72 passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2011 at National Cemetery at Salisbury. James (Tom) Thomas McClearen, age 72 passed away Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC. A graveside service will be held Monday, November 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the National Cemetery, Salisbury with Pastor David Kindy officiating. Tom was born on December 27, 1938 in Forsyth County to James William McClearen and Annie Sue Jones McClearen. He served in the US Army, US Navy and retired as an athletic coordinator at Wake Forest University. He was preceded in death by his parents. Surviving are his wife Patricia Langley McClearen of the home; three sons, Charles McClearen and wife Leslie, Tim McClearen all of Winston-Salem, and David Fox of California; two daughters, Regina McClearen of Florida and Tommye Sue Emmons of Alabama; one brother, Charlie McClearen and wife Debbie of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hefner VA Medical Center, 1601 Brenner Ave., Salisbury, NC 28144. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family
