James Michael “Mike” Thompson, 56, passed away, Monday, October 27, 2014.
The funeral will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 3 to 4 p.m.
Mike was born in Forsyth County, July 31, 1958, to James Edward and Virginia Pedigo Thompson. He was retired from HanesBrands in Winston-Salem. He graduated from Mt. Airy High School and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Appalachian State University. He was an Eagle Scout who loved trips to the beach, boating and spending time with friends. Mike was preceded in death by his father, James Edward Thompson; grandparents, Parson and Jennie Thompson; and Joe and Bessie Pedigo.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Beal of the home; his mother and stepfather, Albert and Virginia Cockerham of Mt. Airy; two daughters, Jennifer Lovill and husband John of Mt. Airy and Jessica Llewellyn and husband Jason of Elkin; four grandchildren, Kaine, Kamber and Kaebyn Lovill of Mt. Airy and Meredith Llewellyn of Elkin ; mother-in-law, Mary Beal of Lexington; a brother-in-law, Dean Beal and wife Donna of Hillsville, Va; two stepbrothers and their wives, Mike and Tammy Cockerham of Mt. Airy and Monte and Danielle Cockerham of Winston-Salem; an uncle and many aunts, cousins and friends.
