James Neailson Morris, Sr., age 84, of Riverview Blvd, Lexington passed away Tuesday morning (April 12, 2011) at Lexington Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Friday (April 15, 2011) at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from Noon until 2:00 pm Friday prior to the service and other times at the home of a daughter, Tricia Charles, Riverview Blvd. Lexington.
James was born in Montgomery County, April 13, 1926 to Willie “Jim” Randall Morris and Sarah Catherine Hogan Morris. He was a retired employee of PPG and of the Baptist Faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mabel Morris on August 29, 2002; a daughter, Jackie James; sister, Pauline “Kettle” Hogan; and brothers, Clarence and J.C. Morris.
Surviving are; two daughters, Patricia “Tricia” Charles and husband Jerry of Lexington; Carolyn Hoffman and husband Terry of Jacksonville, NC; two sons, Buster Morris and wife Gail of Lexington; Tony Morris of Thomasville; seven grandchildren, Michael Charles, Melissa Morris, Lorraine Morris, Bryan Hoffman, Michael Hoffman, Crystal James and Chris James; eight great-grandchildren; one sister Mary Ellen Peacock of Lexington; one brother, Bobby Lee Morris of Salisbury.
