James Dyer Oliver, age 86 of Helmstetler Road, Lexington passed away Sunday morning at Forsyth Medical Center.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 4:00 pm Wednesday at Shiloh United Methodist Church Columbarium with Rev. David Kelley officiating. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary from 2:30 until 3:30 prior to the service.
James was born in Dade County, GA, August 1, 1927 to Ernest Oliver and Ida Banks Oliver. He was a retired owner of Advance Appraisal Service specializing in large equipment appraisals. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
James is survived by his wife, Ruth Lanning Oliver of the home; daughters, Carol Ann Oliver (fiance’ Dean) of Mint Hill, Kim S. Miller (Andy) and Millie S. Smith both of Lexington; son, Shannon T. Snider of Spencer; grandchildren, Nick Hatley (Amber), Kevin Hatley, Andrea Koufopoulos (Chris) Caleb Miller (fiancé Kristan) and Jasmine Snider; great-grandchildren, Aubrianna Hatley, Lily and Caiden Koufopoulos; sisters, Mary Wirchball of Georgia, Joyce Williams (Fred) of TN and Patsy Hargrove (Richard) of AL; brothers, Ernest Oliver (Rita) of CA, John Oliver of AL, Dewey Oliver (Lin) of GA and Gary Oliver (Susie) of AL.
