James Edward Page, 68, of Clemmons went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, November 28, 2021.
A funeral service will be held 2:30 PM Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church with Pastor T. W. Bailey and Pastor Noel Cwenar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:30 PM Saturday at Union Grove Baptist Church.
Dr. Page was born November 20, 1953, in Pulaski County, Arkansas, to George Edward Page and Clara Louise Fogle Page. He was a member and Sunday school teacher of Union Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Union Grove Christian School as a teacher after 20 years of faithful service. Earlier in his career, he served under Pastor Roy Harris at River Valley Baptist Church in Russellville, Arkansas.
In addition to his work at Union Grove and River Valley, he taught at Heritage Christian Academy of Little Rock, Arkansas; Jacksonville Christian Academy of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Bethel Baptist Bible College of Jacksonville, Arkansas; Lowell Baptist School of Lowell, Indiana; and coached basketball and volleyball for 23 years.
James was known for his quiet calm ways and his dry sense of humor. He enjoyed many things in his free time including: reading, learning more about God’s Word, yardwork, the Arkansas Razorbacks, playing the trumpet, shooting his rifle and 44 pistol. He enjoyed watching Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Shelby; and two sisters, Theresa Bartlett and Phyllis Eakens.
Surviving is his wife of 45 years, Joan Corene Nichols Page of the home; two daughters, Rebecca Page Mothershed (Lee) of Winston Salem and Elisabeth Page Beck (Bobby) of Winston Salem; and two grandsons, Finnegan James and Kipling Edward Beck.
Dr. Page will be greatly missed by many. His legacy will continue on in the hearts of his family and friends, as well as in the lives he has touched over the years.
