James Robert Poole, 77, of Shoaf Street, passed away, Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. T.W. Bailey. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
James was born in Davidson County on Dec. 21, 1931, to Dewey James Poole and Nona Pickett Poole. He was a retired route salesman for Standard Coffee Co. He was a member of Christ Chapel United Methodist Church and a veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Edith Hudson Poole, who died in 1980, and his second wife, Helen Maxine Poole, who died in 2000.
Surviving are one daughter, Vickie P. Shupe and her husband, Raymond, of Lexington; one son, Bobby Dean Poole and his wife, Annette, of Lexington; one stepdaughter, Brenda Yates Martin of Rock Hill, S.C.; two stepsons, Gerald Preston Yates of Mt. Gilead and Clarence Franklin Yates of Florida; three grandchildren, Jeremy Shupe of Mocksville, Amanda Poole of Lexington and Jamie Shupe of Winston-Salem; three great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, Brian Martin and Jeff Martin; two sisters, Irene Craver of Lexington and Shirley Giles of Asheboro and two brothers, Randall Poole and Jimmy Poole, both of Lexington.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and at other times at the home.
