James Lee Sechrest

July 22, 1931 — September 16, 2013

James Lee Sechrest, 82, of Copley Street, died Monday, September 16, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, September 20, 2013, at Second Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Brian Rummage and Wayne Sechrest officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of his daughter, Michelle Henderson, Lakewood Drive in Lexington. Mr. Sechrest was born July 22, 1931, in Davidson County, to Carl L. Sechrest and Bertie Bost Love. He was retired maintenance associate from PPG and had also worked with Lexington City Police Department where he served as an animal control officer and school crossing guard. He also proudly served in the U.S. National Guard and was a member of the American Legion. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, James Randall Sechrest; brothers, Kenneth Reid Sechrest and Billy Ray Sechrest; and sisters, Sarah Sechrest Graham and Sandra Sechrest Bates. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Annie Brogdon Sechrest of the home; daughters, Jamie Sechrest Rains of Thomasville and Michelle Sechrest Henderson and husband Eric of Lexington; son, Timothy Lee Sechrest of Lexington; grandchildren, Cole, Nathan, Christian, Ian, Colin and Jeanna; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh, Conner, and Wesley; and brothers, Bobby Sechrest and wife, Mary, Rev. Wayne Sechrest and wife Doris, and Joe Sechrest and wife Becky, all of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Davidson County Animal Shelter, 490 Glendale Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
